Claudine Barretto returns to primetime television via the horror series Maligno, the second installment of the Susan Roces Cinema Collection on ABS-CBN. The sineserye was adapted from the movie of the same title originally starred by Susan Roces for which she won a FAMAS best actress trophy in 1977.
Claudine took a breather from show business when she gave birth to Rodrigo Santino, her son to husband Raymart Santiago. Her last project before going on a maternity leave was the teleserye, Walang Kapalit, with Piolo Pascual.
Part of her preparations for her much awaited comeback was getting back in shape. Claudine said she gained 64 pounds when she was pregnant but claimed that breastfeeding helped her lose the extra pounds. She also admitted getting help from Dra. Vicky Belo.
In Maligno, Claudine plays Angela Cortez, a woman raped and impregnated by a demon, whose offspring will wreak havoc and spread evil on earth. One of the highlights of the sineserye was a very intense rape scene with co-star Rafael Rosel who plays the demon.
Wenn Deramas directs the powerful cast which includes Diether Ocampo, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Arlene Tolibas, Deejay Durano, Empoy, Steven Fermo, and Gee-Ann Abrahan.
Maligno is soon to be shown on ABS-CBN Kapamilya Primetime Bida block.
