Sagip Kapamilya soup kitchen launched for evacuees in Bacolod City

Reporters and
newscasters led
personnel of ABS-CBN
Bacolod in helping
feed evacuees in
Banago Elementary
School II in Bacolod
City Saturday.

Around 200 families
seeking temporary
shelter in the school
were served with
arroz caldo and bread
amid the heavy rains
brought by Typhoon
"Frank".

The evacuees from
Barangay Banago left
their homes as early
as 7 a.m. Saturday as
floodwaters reached
neck level.

Some of the 50
children in the
evacuation center did
not have slippers and
had to sleep with
their wet clothes.

Josephine Banas, one
of the evacuees
expressed gratitude.

"We thank ABS-CBN for
going out of their way
amid the bad weather
to extend us some
assistance," Banas
said.

Station Manager
Leilani Salem-Alba said
the soup kitchen is
part of the Kapamilya
network's community
outreach programs
that aim to assist
those in need
especially during
calamities.
