A recent study by the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) shows that even with 320 fitness clubs in the Philippines, the penetration rate for membership among Filipinos is only 1.4 percent.
"That's low for a country with 91 million people," said Ms. Audris Romualdez, Managing Director of E- Sports RK International, which will be introducing Technogym, a new line of fitness equipment on September 10.
Technogym was the official provider of fitness equipment in the recently-concluded Beijing Olympics. It will "open shop" through local distributor E- Sports RK International, Inc..
"With growing affluence in the country, we expect more people to get into being healthy, and consequently, we see more hotels, resorts and other businesses getting into the concept of wellness, and putting in more funds into building or revamping gyms of higher quality," Romualdez said.
Technogym is an Italian-based company. Its fitness equipment, which are currently used in the most prestigious top health clubs and wellness facilities here and abroad, will be featured in a showroom display at the ground floor of the Almeda Arcade in Makati City.
Romualdez is bullish over Technogym's prospects in the Philippines, especially with the growing consciousness among Filipinos towards wellness.
She said Technogym is one of the innovators in wellness equipment design and technology.
