The MYX VJ Search 2008

There are two things that go hand-in-hand when watching a music channel -- great music videos and a cool and charismatic video jock.
Great videos served up by a witty and funny personality who is in love with the music, and isn't afraid to show it.
Myx, the number one music channel in the country took the concept of a video jock to the next level with a combination of star power and innovative show platforms.
Among the names who joined the illustrious ranks of Myx VJs were the likes of Michi Valeriano, Ala Paredes, Heart Evangelista and Karel Marquez, among others. The current roster of Myx VJs are Luis Manzano, Iya Villania and Nikki Gil who have also made names for themselves in the entertainment industry.
Last year, Myx held the first-ever MYX VJ Search, where they scoured the country for the best and the brightest. Hundreds trooped to the auditions to make it to one of twelve finalist spots. The group had to undergo a series of challenges to test if they had what it takes to become the new face of the channel.
From hosting a number of Myx events to serving up the tunes as VJs on various playlist and countdown shows. In the end, voters and judges saw star potential in winners Sanya Smith, Andrei Felix, Igi Guerrero and Mica Froilan. Since then, they have taken control of the microphone, hosting all things Myx, from playlist shows to rockin' campus tours.
After the success of last year's search, the channel decided to give more young people the chance of a lifetime to become part of the Myx family with the Myx VJ Search 2008 . After three weekends of auditions, Myx channel head Andre Allan Alvarez and his production team found 12 budding talents to make up this year's batch of finalists. These kids are eager to show off their combination of wit and music-savvy for a shot at being a VJ.
Now the ball is in the hands of each of the finalists, as they to battle it out in a series of challenges, both on-ground and on- air - in a bid to impress both the judges and the viewers to claim the top prize. They will take turns doing hosting duties on shows like Pop Myx, reading viewer requests on My Myx and counting down the top hits on the Myx Daily Top Ten.
Impressing the viewers will play a key part in the Myx VJ Search finalists' quest for the 'gold,' as they get to cast their votes for their favorites. They just need to tune in to Myx 24 /7 to find out which of the finalists they think deserve to become the next Myx VJ. Each VJ will be assigned a number to help identify them in the voting. The viewers just need to key in MYXVJ(space)(number of VJ finalist) and send to 2366.
Text votes will make up 30 % of the total score during the big finals night. So cast your votes now, because voting only lasts until October 19 , 2008.
On October 21 st at the Trinoma Ayala Mall, the new crop of Myx VJs will be announced. The event will be headlined by the Myx VJ Search 2008 finalists and performances by top local bands. The event is made even grander as it coincides with the third anniversary of Myx Magazine, the biggest-selling music magazine in the country.
