Schedules for Registration on 2010 elections

Nationwide registration for the 2010 elections will start December 2, 2008 and will continue for a year, until Dec. 15, 2009. Biometrics technology will be used, according to the Commission on Elections.
Resolution 8454, however, exempts the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Biometrics involves scanning and recording unique body parts such as fingerprints and matching them with information in the database. The use of this technology will hopefully ensure the success of the 2010 national and local elections and in "establishing a clean, complete, permanent and updated list of voters."
According to James Jimenez, Comelec spokesman, a data capturing machine will be deployed in every office of the city/municipal election officer for the registration.
By law, any Filipino citizen who is at least eighteen years of age and a resident of the Philippines for at least one year may register to vote.
Deactivated voters can also apply for reactivation of their registration records during the period prescribed, Jimenez said.
Applications for registration, transfer of records, reactivation and changes in entries will be personally filed at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO). The offices are open from Monday to Friday, during regular office hours, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Applicants are required to present valid identification cards such as:
Employee's ID
Postal ID
Students ID
Senior Citizen's ID
Drivers License
NBI/PNP clearance
Passport
SSS/GSIS ID
IBP ID, PRC license, etc.
Any valid ID with photo and signature
The schedule of applications and registrations are as follows:

January 2 to March 31, 2009
April 1 to June 30, 2009
July 1 to September 30, 2009
October 1 to December 15, 2009
The OFW absentee voting registration is also slated to start and end earlier. Applicants should go to their respective embassies or posts from December 1, 2008until August 31, 2009. Aside from new voters, registered voters can also update their information during this period.
According to Resolution 8458, "All citizens of the Philippines who intend to vote abroad, at least 18 years of age on the day of elections and not otherwise disqualified by law may register."
