The lowest prevailing temperature of this mountain resort 250kilometers north of Manila further dipped to 9.8 degrees Celsuis early Thursday morning from Wednesday's 10.6 degrees, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Wilson Locando, PAGASA Baguio weather forecaster, said the low temperature could still go down until February 2009.
He said that in places with higher elevation compared to downtown Baguio like the radar site in Mount Santo Tomas and Barangay Paoay, Atok, Benguet, the temperature being recorded is much lower.
Meanwhile, Gabby Keith, an official of the city tourism office, said many of the visitors here from temperate countries with sub-zero temperatures at this time of the year found the Baguio weather as "excellent".
He said that the visitors love the low temperature here without the inconvenience brought about by snow "and our environs remain green instead of white."
For local visitors from the warmer regions in the Philippines, Keith also said found their visit here a welcome experience during this time of the year because "they really got to have the chills when they attend the masses at dawn as a Christmas tradition." (PNA via www.balita.ph)
