Guidelines on COMELEC Registration (BAGUIO-CAR)

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional office in the Cordillera imposed a numbering system for individuals trooping the office to address the long queues and to make the registration of voters more systematic.
Richard Buenaventura, election assistant 2 of the Comelec-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), said the system would be effective only for the first days of the registration period to minimize the queuing inconvenience of the public.The Comelec registration started last December 2. Applicants are required to personally file their applications at the election offices where they reside.
However, the resumption of registration was scheduled to January 5next year, as the Comelec anticipated a possible declaration of Januarys 2 as a non-working holiday.
In the region, 100applicants are accommodated in a day; the first 50 will be attended to in the morning and the other half in the afternoon, Buenaventura said.
The Comelec also assured the functionality of the Data Capturing Machines (DCM) in every election office.
"Since their establishment in the election offices, we have yet to receive a report about the failures of a DCM," said Buenaventura.
The Comelec central office provided each municipal and city election office with at least one DCM.-sunstar.com.ph
