7,470 elementary, 5,914 secondary teachers pass exams (April 2009)

A total of 7,470elementary teachers out of 26,812examinees, and 5,914secondary teachers out of 23,975examinees passed the licensure examination for teachers held last April 5 in 15 testing centers nationwide and one in Hong Kong, according to results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Friday.
Graduates of UP Diliman dominated the elementary teachers' exams with four out of the top five coming from UP Diliman.

Lorivi Robles Huyaban of UP Diliman topped the elementary teachers' exam with a 90% rating.
Catherine Joy Batrina Catalan of University of Pangasinan was second with 89.8%.
Three graduates of UP Diliman came in third to fifth place: Dena Sasing Culaba (89.4%); Aileen Reyes Macapagal (88.8%); Hershey Gambon Calma (88.4%).
Meanwhile, Benedict Enriquez Barayuga, a graduate of Central Luzon State University, and Gerard Vincent Tanchanco Mendoza, topped the exams for secondary level teachers with identical scores of 91.6%.
Rochelle Madjus Razo of UP Diliman placed second with 90.6% rating, while Albert Angeles Basa of the Philippine Women's University came in third with 90% rating.
Swaggert Calado Tacio of St. Louis University placed fourth with 89.6%.
Arlano Revilla Aquino of UP Baguio City and Jean Marzo Ginez of UP Diliman were tied at fifth with scores of 89.2%.
For elementary level, UP Diliman and St. Louis University were the top performing schools. Tied at third were De La Salle University-Manila and Notre Dame of Dadiangas College.
For secondary level, De La Salle University-Manila, St. Theresa's College-Cebu, UP Baguio, UP Manila, UP Visayas-Iloilo City were all ranked first with 100% passing rate. UP Diliman was second with 99% passing rate.
