MANILA - Asia's Songbird, Regine Velasquez, tested positive for the influenza A(H1N1) virus but has already recovered, ABS-CBN News learned Thursday.
Velasquez said she got infected by the virus days before her much-awaited guesting in Charice's first major concert last June 27 at SMX Convention Center.
"Mabilis lang pero buti na lang hindi naman matinding strain. I found out I was already OK kasi sa dami ng nagpa-pa-checkup (na-delay yong result ng swab test)," she said.
Velasquez said she was ill for 10 days but had already recovered since she has a strong immunity system. She said she may have gotten the virus during one of her shows.
She said that during the quarantine period, she wore a mask so as not to infect people close to her.
Velasquez admitted that she was unaware of the A (H1N1) scare because of her hectic work schedule.
The Department of Health has recorded a total of 1,709 confirmed A (H1N1) cases in the Philippines as of June 27, 2009.
