Proclamation No. 1850
Declaring a Period of National Mourning Over the Death of Corazon C. Aquino, Former President of the Philippines
WHEREAS, former President if the Philippines Corazon C. Aquino died today;
WHEREAS, President Aquino will always be remembered and will live forever in the heart of every Filipino as a beloved mother of the nation who led her people back to the road of freedom and democracy;
WHEREAS, her death is a great loss to our country and our people;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim the period August 1, 2009to August 10, 2009, as a period of national mourning for our beloved former President. During this period, flags of all government buildings and installations throughout the Philippines and abroad shall be flown at half-mast.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand anf caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
