MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN's "Bayanijuan," a campaign that aims to address hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines, received an award of merit at the 45th Anvil Awards.
Since its launch in June 2008, "Bayanijuan" has helped a total of 3,324 beneficiaries from 9 provinces nationwide. The advocacy program has also attracted several partners and similar feeding programs in various regions across the country.
Originally conceptualized by ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI), "Bayanijuan" aims to revive Filipino volunteerism to create "a better, more compassionate Philippines for ourselves and our children."
The Anvil Awards, an annual event organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, honors outstanding public relations programs and tools.
Aside from the Anvil Awards, AFI also received recognition from the Ani ng Dangal Awards 2010. The award-giving body honors Filipinos who have won international prizes.
Last year, AFI's "Bantay Bata 163 10th Anniversary Special" received the gold medal award for best variety special from the 2009 New York Festivals International Television Broadcasting Awards.
