Beauty pageants and spotlight are not new to our Bb. Pilipinas 2011 Candidate #1 Zephorah Mayon. We popularly know this lady as Zara Aldana and she was gracing our TV sets for quite some time. She made her presence known on local showbiz when she entered “Bahay Ni Kuya” in the ABS-CBN Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 where she given the label “Beauty Queen” after which she become Kris Aquino’s puzzle assistant in the local version of Wheel of Fortune game show.

But before her television stints Zara was crowned as Mutya ng Pilipinas – Asia-Pacific in 2007, however in less than two months of her reign, Zara abdicated her throne. Many reasons came up as to why she abdicated her throne including: discrimination within the organization, unclear contract, lack of support from the organizers and “fatigue” from the sudden lifestyle change.

She also joined and won numerous pageants including Ms STI International and Bb. Las Piñas crown in 2006.

Binibining Pilipinas 2011, the 48th edition of Binibining Pilipinas, will be held on April 10, 2011 Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines. Forty ladies will compete for three titles: Binibining Pilipinas-Universe, Binibining Pilipinas-International, and Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism Queen International. The Binibining Pilipinas-Universe winner will compete in Miss Universe 2011 in São Paulo, Brazil and Binibining Pilipinas-International will compete in Miss International 2011 in Chengdu, China.

The preliminary competition will take place on April 3, 2011, after the much awaited Parade of Beauties at the Araneta Center, Quezon City to be aired on ABS-CBN.
