Social Welfare and Development Officer-in-Charge Alicia R. Bala today said that the DSWD has prepositioned P3.38 million standby funds and P32.41 million worth of relief supplies in all DSWD Field Offices along the path of typhoon “Bebeng,” ready for distribution to local government units (LGUs) affected by the typhoon.
OIC-Bala said that the DSWD has extended food assistance worth P125,000.00 to some 3,664 stranded passengers in Matnog, Sorsogon.
As of May 9, 8:00 a.m., some 310 families in Region V composed of 1,383 persons are staying in eight evacuation centers in Albay, Camarines Sur, and Masbate.
Likewise, in Catarman, Northern Samar three evacuation centers are serving some 121 families composed of 420 persons.
DSWD social workers continue to assist social workers from affected LGUs in managing the evacuation centers.
OIC-Bala further said that DSWD Field Offices’ Disaster Management Response Teams in affected regions were alerted and initial meetings were held regarding their roles, tasks and responsibilities particularly on their availability and readiness for deployment.
