It has been 113 years ago when the Philippines received its freedom from various foreign colonizers. This year marks the 113th commemoration of the Philippine Independence day and will be led by President Benigno S. Aquino III, this being the first Independence Day of PNoy as the 15th President of the country.
Simultaneous flag raising and wreath laying ceremonies shall be held in the Rizal National Monument, Rizal Park at 7 AM with his Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino as Gues of Honor; Vice President Jejomar Binay shall be at Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, Kawit, Cavite; Speaker of the House Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte shall be at Barasoain Church Historical Landmark, Malolos, Bulacan; DND Sec. Voltaire T. Guzman at Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revolucion, Manila North Cemetery; DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo at Gat Andres BonifacioNational Monument, Caloocan City; Senator Teofisto Guingona III at Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, San Juan City; Gov. Mark Lapid at Pamintuan Mansion, Angeles City; and local government officials of Davao and Cebu.
After the formal flag raising ceremonies the President will offer the traditional toast in Vin d Honneur at Malacañang with guests led by Papal Nuncio heading the Diplomatic Community, and other key officials of urt, the Senate, Congress, the Cabinet, and the private sector.
The afternoon program will open with an ecumenical prayer representing the Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim faith. The national anthem “Lupang Hinirang” shall be sang by 250 voices from various chorale groups of government. The Hon. Dr. Maria serena Diokno chair of the 2011 Kalayaan National Organizing Committee shall introduce the President.
In the parade, according to Director Nilo Agustin, creative director of this year’s June 12 TWG, instead of the usual float which is more expensive, the committee decided to use 20 electric tricycle or most commonly known as e-trikes which shall be the special feature of the parade. Prior to the June 12 parade, a “Parada ng Pag-anyaya shall be with the Association of Volunteers Fire Chiefs and Fighters of the Philippines inviting the general public to join in the celebration of the 113th Independence.
NHCP Executive director Ludovico Badoy also chair of the Kalayaan TWG who handles the planning of the June 12 events explained that the use of e-trikes in the grand parade is in keeping with President PNoy’s thrust of promoting alternative mode of transportations which is eco-friendly and non-reliant to fossil fuel. The parade will be supplemented with special AVPs to be shown on three led screens located in strategic areas around the Quirino Grandstand.
Agustin also said that four theatre groups shall present and dramatize in a tableau the four parts of the parade - these are the Barasoain Kalinangan Foundation, Tanghalang Pilipino, Gantimpala Theater Foundation, and Phil. Stagers.
In the opening of the parade a tableau entitled Iniibig ko ang Bayan , shall be presented by the Barasoain Kalinangan Foundation. The next segment of the parade the Tanghalang Pilipino shall dramatize the Incorruptible Leadership. The third part focuses the community development process to be dramatized by the Gantimpala Theater Group, along with the episode on the socio-economic benefits to be derived from this kind of leadership . The legacy is the fourth episode dramatized by the the Phil Stagers. And in the finale, which will depict in drama and theatrical presentation the awesome ending of the parade , Panunumpa sa Watawat to be staged by the Barasoain Kalinangan Theater Foundation. The AVP production shall be interspersed between the theatrical presentations.
Only one float will cap the program called Inang Bayan which will feature the best employees in various fields medicine, science and techonology, local government, international diplomacy, economic development, ICT, military, agricultural productivity, environment protection, social science, social justice, peace and order, public administration, banking and finance, and media.
Alab ng Kalayaan, a special fireworks display will end this year’s Kalayaan celebration with a musical concert of various bands/choral groups.
