As of today, the Human Rights Violations Victims' Memorial Commision listed 11,103 victims of human rights violations from 1972 to 1986. However, Amnesty International (an international non-government organization focused on human rights) estimated a total of 70,000 jailed, 34,000 tortured, and 3,240 killed in the time of Martial Law. Those who befell this misfortune were subjected to unforgiving interrogation and sometimes relentless torture, regardless of whether or not they were involved in activist movements. Russian roulette, water torture, rape, electric shock, and more were among the torture methods used.
