Hana Kimi Taiwan (ABS-CBN) versus Hana Kimi Japan (GMA 7)
ABS-CBN and GMA Network is at it again. This time and for the first time, both networks will be airing two shows with the same title on March 24 but two different adaptations.
GMA Network is showing the Japanese adaption whereas ABS-CBN is showing the Taiwanese adaptation. Both series has its similarities: 3 main characters, a dog, a gay doctor, a photo journalist, the effeminate classmate, 3 dorms, and the crazy adventures. So which series is better? Some say that the Japanese version is way better, funny and heartwarming than the Taiwanese version. Some say the Taiwanese version is better because the lead male actor is more good-looking than the Japanese version. Then there’s some who say that ABS-CBN is better at dubbing compared to GMA. The viewers will ultimately be the judge to that.

ABS CBN will air the Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi which was first broadcasted in 2006, while GMA will air the Japanese version Hanazakari no Kimitachi e which was first broadcasted in 2007; both dramas were adapted from the Japanese manga. Taiwan has produced this drama in 2006, starring Ella Chen and Wu Chun etc. and achieved great ratings; and because of its popularity and success, Fujitv was prompted to make the Japanese version as well… Frankly, i like the Taiwanese version better as it is funnier and “kakakilig”, as well as the story line is much closer to the manga series compared to the japanese version which totally was way different than the manga….. Well, I’m just glad that ABS has the taiwanese version, i know they’ll do a very good job when it comes to dubbing this drama (well, as always). GMA on the other hand is just awful when it comes to dubbing, i mean aside from the fact that it lacks timing, the voices always doesnt fit the characters! i hated it when they re- broadcasted Meteor Garden- what have they done??? their dubbers can’t even pronounce Dao Ming Si’s name properly! and Shan Cai’s and Qinghe’s dubbed were just terrible. They made Shan Cai sound like a big girl, urgh!the voices sounded so different from the characters. Compared to ABS’s dubbing that it totally reflects and very similar to the voices of the original actors…. People are always saying ABS always follows GMA. i mean, come on! Who initially aired Meteor Garden? isn’t it because of the popularity of Meteor Garden that GMA bombarded their airtime with other Asian dramas? they wanted to get the impact Meteor Garden has done to the Filipino masses, that’s why they did that sillyness. they even re-aired Meteor Garden 5yrs later! and now that ABS is airing the Taiwanese Version (who is btw, the original drama version), now Ch. 7 on the contrary would air the Japanese one??? funny, they’re such a copy cat! with a dubbing that totally sucks- gee, GMA is way sub- par!
ReplyDeleteBoth dramas were adapted from the japanese manga. However, taiwan first aired, produced and popularized Hana Kimi through television for the majority. We must admit, not everbody reads manga, but everbody watches tv… Japan, however seems to copy taiwan’s move; e.g. Meteor Garden, Hana Kimi. If taiwan was able to create a great success and a massive follower out of that drama, japan on the other hand will make its own version. i mean, isn’t that kinda annoying? And to those saying japan’s actors are better looking than taiwan’s? - for the record, Japan’s F4 failed in comparison to the F4 that created phenomenon all over Asia. they’re good looking alright, but aren’t as good looking as taiwan’s F4; plus, they lack star appeal. I’ve seen Hana Yori Dango 1&2, and their F4 actors seem to look funny with the characters they’re portraying- they just dont fit…. Matsumoto Jun a.k.a Doumyouji Tsukasa seems so small and girly looking- isn’t the character of Doumyouji supposed to be stern, tall, has cold and cruel exterior? i dunno, Matsumoto Jun should’ve played Hanazawa Rui’s role instead…. Anyhow, Wu Zun who portrayed Hana Kimi’s lead male role is even far better looking than Shun Oguri of Hanazakari no Kimitachi e…. i love japanese originally produced (not the remake ones) dramas but they aren’t as popular and as successful in Asia compared to taiwanese and koreans. They should refrain from doing remakes and try to popularize dramas which are produced originally by them. Japan, on the contrary is really excellent is making scary movies, and i totally admire them for that ….
ReplyDeleteAbs- Cbn bought the rights of Hana Kimi ages ago (along with a couple or more of other asian dramas as well which they will be airing soon); & like they always do in advance- announced their line up of upcoming new shows (and that of course, include hana kimi) last January this year, even before GMA was able to get their hands of the Japanese version. If it happens that both networks will air the same drama (though diff versions) after easter sunday- it is indeed, just a coincidence.
i want to move the timeslot of hana kimi in abs cbn..i want it to be moved in primetime bida please..!!! naiinis ako kasi sa hapon nilagay..gustong gusto ko pa naman manood ng hana kimi (taiwan version)...i like hana kimi so much! romantic and comedy.. mas papatok ito lalo na pag nilagay sa primetime bida! please!!!!! ang hana kimi na lang ang ipalit sa lovers..... oh di kaya gawan nyo na lang ng paraan....please...i want it to be moved in primetime bida huhuhuhu.. sige na please...abs-cbn =(

ReplyDeletehey i've just finished watching hana kimi taiwan version and it's so romantic and so funny!!!...sabi nila ang panget daw ng gumanap na Rui Xi(heroine) popularly played by Ella Chen of S.H.E., a popular pop female trio singer from taiwan....very advantage kasi yung mga actor and actress na nagportray is already sikat na like Wu Chun/Zun(Quan) and Jiro Wang (Xui Yi) of fahrenheit...the personality really suit more yung mga character...and Ella was so cute unlike yung sa japanese version kahit di ko pa napapanood,eh very feminine yung hitsura ng bidang babae which outcast the real character of the heroine sa series na boyish look talaga and more of mukhang tomboy na alanganin...at super cute talaga ng characters!!!lalo na si Ella at Jiro Wang...kakatuwa yung character...mangga na mangga ang portrayal...the expression na sobrang weird was really funny,anime mangga ang dating talaga...pati yung baklang doctor,si Do Shou na ghost freak,yung dalawang sidekick ni Jiro Wang na sex maniac...si Julia yung bestfriend ni Ella from states...all was terrific!!!kaso yung ending...maxadong bitin kahit sabihin mo pang may sequal pa daw na susunod....anyway its for you to find out but i'll gaurentee you guys most of the scenes if not kilig moments eh nakaktawa talaga...maiinlove kau sa bawat character and makakarelate sa friendship nila as if your a part lalo na sa nakaktuwang mundo ng mga high school boys and kung paano ia-adapt ni Rui Xi ang normal at weird na pamumuhay ng mga kalalakihang teenager...mapa love,bein in relationships,yung bonding ng mga magbabarkadang lalake,yung pagkakapatiran kahit iba iba ang mga pag uugali,how women change a boy into a man...sobrang maa-appreciate ito lalo na ng mga teens...not really sa mga adult...maybe sa mg adult magbabalik tanaw kau sa kabataan nyo...anyways panoorin nyo "MAS" itong Hana Kimi sa ABS-CBN!!!yung japanese nakakdis-appoint lang at trying hard...like GMA,...nagiging trying hard na din...dati unique but ngayon...kakasawa na din sila....unlike ABS CBN na sobrang in sa latest at cool na cool...kyang sakyan ng lahat ng shows nila ang iba't ibang group of ages and people...ang abangan nyo sa GMA is yung Devil Beside You...Sana po i-air din sa ABS CBN yung Summer X Summer starring Joe Cheng at yung Part 2 Sequal ng "It started with a Kiss"...yung "They kissed Again"...Pati yung mga movies na ipalabas sa mga big nights,...namimiss ko na kasi like yung "100 pound beauty" para mai-dub sa tagalog...

ReplyDeleteehem..i've read many comments...mas gusto nila ang japanese..which, nahuhurt talaga ako, ksi mas gusto ko tlaga ang taiwan.at saka, tama rin ung iba na mas magaling tlaga mag dubb ang abs, kasi bagay na bagay tlaga sa mga characters ung voice. tama rin ung iba na ang gma ay nanggagaya. grabe, tuwing pinapanood ko yung hana kimi (japan) parang, nawawalan ako ng ganang manood. yah pinapanood ko ang japan para malaman ko kung ano talaga ang difference nila, i found out na mas maganda talaga ang taiwan. kaso ang panget lang sa hana kimi taiwan, ung ending. pero, however, natatawa ako, naeexcite ako ung sa ending. sa japan, parang hindi nkakatawa ang babae, si ashiya.

ReplyDeleteDubbing sa GMA hindi ko maintindihan kung iisa lng ang nag dudub or dalawa. About naman sa mga bida dun na nag papanggap na lalake? mas gusto ko yung look ng nasa ABS kasi ung sa GMA mukha na talaga siyang babae eh XD

Both Hana-Kimi version are nice and are really recommended to viewers. Many of my friends watched both versions without the actual dubbed by both stations. Hana-Kimi is the shortened Japanese word for “Hanazakari no Kimitachi E~Ikemen Paradise” which is harshly translated to “You in Full Blossom” . It is adapted from the Manga (not mangga) with vintage in the year 1997. The original writer and art of the manga is Hisaya Nakajo creator of Missing Piece, Sugar Princess and Yumemiru Happa. Taiwan produced the live action of the manga later than 2005 followed by the Japanese live action a year after. Taiwan’s version is widely base on the manga itself in respect for the writer, however; some of the behavior and attitudes of the characters were changed. Since Japan was the one who produced the live action next, they tried to part away from the manga to avoid imitation (patents were considered) and applied subculture of anime-like show. Taiwan presented a strong chemistry of romance and friendship towards the characters that encourages and inspires Romance-genre-lovers (as expected among most Filipinos). Japan was inspired by anime to add more humor for the story and deals with more of the Shoujo (Shoujo – it means that most viewers are females) side of the story. What makes some of the blog confusing is that ABS-CBN didn’t make HANA KIMI, they bought it, just correcting. The word Original is also not that appropriate since “Hana Kimi” is actually a Japanese word it would be better if they translated it to Taiwanese language. What are the negative sides of both versions… (These are not my opinions) HanaKimi Taiwan, some say that the reason of female protagonist to return to Taiwan is quite shallow. Some commented that the ending of the version is not that good. HanaKimi Japan, some say that the story was foolish especially the random behaviors of the students. Some say that the story focused more on the humorous side and too far from the original story in manga. Either way, both shows played a nice presentation of their own version as long as the viewers enjoy the show there are no further things to fight about. The problem here is that both teams are fighting over not for the show itself but on how they classify the shows through the station broadcasting the shows. Let’s set aside the dubbings and etc. and focus on the story itself. If a viewer is a fan of Romance-genre, he/she will like the Taiwan version from the Japanese version on the other hand, if the viewer has background of anime and such, the viewer may find Japanese version better over Taiwan version. The perspective of each viewer may vary so we cannot actually compare the two though it is quite hard to avoid comparing two versions with similar stories. You may want to check the international ratings of the two versions in the internet; we cannot totally depend yet on the ratings presented by Filipino viewers latter to the condition of the last year issue of station ratings…. Have fun and enjoy both stories of the Hana Kimi ^_^…

Wo0ho0!! I really love them both!!!
In hana kimi taiwan, i just noticed that they focused on subject of L-O-V-E which really gave me the "kilig factor". I saw there what a person have done, can do and will do for the sake of REAL love and i am so happy about it.I was really howling and smiling all around and everything especially seeing wu chun's really handsome face also, many scenes with Xiu Yi are hilarious..he can really carry out his role!... It's just that it was kind a open-ended...Good thing my cousin informed me of it's part two so let's watch out for it!...YEpEE!!!
In hana kimi japan, I learned a lot of things about growing up and developing like a bud blossoming and it exposed me to reality about TRUE friends...It also made me laugh especially when i saw kagarazuka's facial expression when Sano kissed him...whaaaaaatttt!!!!I love it
Both of them actually satisfied me and gave me the feeling of ecstacy!!!It's really worth watching!!

ReplyDeleteAt the very beginning...i was really looking forward to a very nice and satisfying episodes of the hana kimi taiwan since for the first time, i was captivated by Chun's face. I was right, I was very happy after watching it and i wanted to watch it all over again...I really really really really love it so much!!!!
Then i watched hana kimi japan...
Of course, beforehand, i was expecting too much since i was satisfied with the taiwanese version... Unfortunately, it actually disappointed me but i decided to continue watching it.
As i go on with the succeeding episodes...that was when i fully realize why many say that it is beautiful and it really is. I can really feel their emotions..Excluding the fact that Ashiya had a hard time making her tears fall, i can see the sorrow in her eyes when she was about to leave for america..maybe she was just holding her tears so her weakness won't be exposed and i do understand her..I was actually crying that time...Nadala nga ako sa acting nila eh...

I agree..!! magaling talaga ang ABS-CBN when it comes too dubbing..!! fitted or bagay na bagay talaga sa character yung mga boses nag nag dudubbing.. at ang GMA kung ano ang sikat sa ABS ay ginagaya nag GMA.. ABS ang unang nagpalabas ng ASIANOVELAS which is the METEOR GARDEN naging patok talaga ito, bukod sa maganda yung storya ang ganda ganda pa ng boses nang nag dub.. grabeh.. at ito nmang GMA na sobrang manggagaya.. MVP Valentine... hahaha.. pwehh.. at ABS din ang unang nagpalabas ng fanatserye which is MARINA na ginaya nman ng GMA at ginawang MARINARA.. dah they just ruined it.. Kapamilya rockz/..

ReplyDeletei think that hana kimi taiwan version was the best Asian TV series since meteor garden taiwan verison. i think it has a very good storyline that you want to view the episode from time to time, but too bad because the story or episodes were too short...although it is enough for us the viewers to learn something about love and have fun at the same time

ReplyDeleteuhmm. mga kapamilya, kea wlng peace s philippines eh. wag n kau mag away. i watched the taiwan. and first i thought it's waaaaay better. but when i tried to watch japan, i couldn't stop. just like what i felt when i first watched hana kimi taiwan. as you all heard, they are based from the manga, which is created by a japanese.
ReplyDeletewhat im trying to say is, japan is funnier, more hilarious and nakatsu and mizuki looks good together but they didn't get to be together in the end. sano looked SO mysterious. and it took a long time before he learned to open up with mizuki. nakatsu is funnier than wesley. and his and mizuki's scenes where better and much nakakakilig.
japan copied some dramas from taiwan. BUT, in their own stupid way. stupid as in hilarious or funny.
taiwan's version is based on the manga. ruixi looked better as a male than mizuki (maki is soooo much prettier when her hair is like in one missed call). ruixi is funnier and her facial expressions are not that weird. uhm, wu chun looked better than shun.
not because we are SOLID kapamilyas or SOLID kapuso, that doesn't mean we have to force people about what's better. well, the others prefer abs because their dubbing is good. others say that gma sucks because of the dubbing. well, japanese language is harder to dub than taiwanese.
AND OTHERS ALMOST WORSHIP THEIR INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED IDOLS.
ACTORS:
Ella Chen - she played ruixi in the taiwanese version. her acting is good and she definitely looks more like a boy. she is a part of a girl group called S.H.E (selina,hebe,ella). ella is the boyish one, and that's why she is chosen as RUIXI
Horikita Maki - im not just a S.H.E fan. im also a maki fan. maki looks lie a handsome boy if we really dont know the real story of hana kimi. that's why people say she really looks like a girl. i saw her movie, one missed call. she is good though.
Wu Chun - before watching hanazakari no kimitachi e- hottie paradise, i really idolize him. he's handsome and looks so young even at the age of 28
Oguri Shun - looks so old. yet his mysterious character fits the drama so well. i think its the first time he actually made a drama series this big.
Jiro Wang - he better not act as a gay or no one will like him. he is so much better in rolling love (fan gun ba! dan chao fan). he is a great singer and actor. he starred in many dramas as a supportive friend who falls for his friend like in ISWAK.
Ikuta Toma - he is now my current addiction. and i cant believe mizuki still loves sano (whaaaaaaaaaat!) he acts good and i like him as nakatsu. good thing he didn't admit to everybody that he is a homo janai. ("ore wa homo janai!!") his actions in hana kimi are good and funny. especially when he thought he can't face mizuki anymore because he already knows mizuki's secret.
not because we watched a version first means we have the right to judge the other ones. because i thought the japanese one really sucks and before watching it, i thought i'd really regret it. but i dont.
dont look down on the other version because you might like it too.
:) im not taking sides. i just dont want you to fight about it.
btw, i liked the ending of japan. it's so touching. i like the ending of the taiwanese. but its kinda cliffhanging me

ReplyDeletei prefer HK taiwanese version, coz its a lot more funnier than the jap. ver. ive seen the jap. but sorry to say for all the fans of HK JAP, its not enjoyable to watch(own opinion).. i really like the way ella portrayed the character there.. its a job well done for her maybe sometimes her facial expression was too much but its one thing why i keep on watching it and also because of the 2 cute boys from fhrenheir wuchun and jiro wang .. in HK TIwan i enjoy every episode of it bec. the characters are blending.. so definitely my vote goes to HK TAIWAN
ReplyDeleteand also the chemistry between the 2 main characters were so good thats why i chose the taiwan ver. i love chunella! i hope there will be a sequel for hana kmi taiwan because everybody who loves the show is still hangin about the ending. ahm.. CE FANS do you think its possible CE in real life??
ReplyDeleteI bet on watching Hana Kimi in ABS yung Taiwanese version kasi funny tsaka bagay yung loveteam sana dito sa Bacolod yung TV Patrol Bacolod alisin na para walang salot kasi before mag Boy and Kris yung Hana Kimi pinapalabas dito e kainis last 6 episodes pa naman kasi paminsan putol putol yung episode kaya sana ilipat sa Primetime.hehehehehe sana si Ella makapunta dito fan pa naman ako ng S.H.E at Fahrenheit noh.!!!

ReplyDeleteHANA KIMI TAIWAN is the best! No wonder. Una, yung pagkaportray ng role ni ELLA bilang Rui Xi, talagang karapat dapat bigyan ng clap-clap. Di ako biased on their facial features (kasi madami nga nagsasabing mas gwapo mga bida sa taiwan vs. japan) pero sa kilos ni Ella vs Mizuki, lalaking lalaki si Ella. YUN TALAGA ANG NAGPAPANGGAP. Si Mizuki, bukod sa super ganda para maging lalake, wala man lang kaeffort effort. Tapos yung damit nya halata namang babae sya. WALA BANG CREATIVITY ang crew nila? Production Staffs?
Sunod sa storyline. Sobrang haba ng HANA KIMI T pero di man lang ako nabore panoorin every single scene. Against HANA KIMI J 12 eps lang ata pero may scenes na di ko talaga mapigilang magforward. Ang panget lang sa HKT eh yung ending! Dapat sasabihin na nya na babae sya kaso nauudlot lagi ng friends nila, instead sinabi nya na magpapaopera sya achuchuchu. Sa HKJ muntik akong mapaluha sa ending. PERO YUN LANG ang maganda dun.
Judging an idol drama shouldn't be based on what channel it is broadcasted. Pano kung for example, Dae Jang Geum (Jewel in the Palace) which is the 2nd best korean drama of all time eh ibinroadcast sa ABS? Syempre mandidiri yung mga kapuso na "Eww ang bading ng palabas nyo". Pero dahil sa GMA naman ipinalabas, proud pa sila na natalo nila ang PBB kahit diring diri na sila.
