Invasion: Philippines vs. the World is a showcase of four championship boxing fights.
Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions will hit Philippine shores come April 6 with “INVASION: Philippines vs. The World” which will feature WBO bantamweight king Gerry Peñalosa against formidable Thai challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin.
According to fightnews.com, the match will take place at the historic Araneta Coliseum, the site of the “Thrilla in Manila” bout between Muhammad Ali and “Smokin’ ” Joe Frazier in 1975. It will be televised around the globe via ABS-CBN.
The undercards will also feature Rey Bautista of the Philippines against Genaro Camargo of Mexico for the WBO intercontinental junior featherweight belt; and A J Banal of the Philippines against Uruguay’s Caril Herrera for the IBF junior bantam eliminator.
