  • PINOY DREAM ACADEMY SEASON II:


The second season of Pinoy Dream Academy will formally begin on June 14, 2008. Nikki Gil will reprise her role as the main host of this season, while Toni Gonzaga is expected to reprise her role as the Saturday Gala Night host. Billy Crawford will join this season as the host of the late afternoon edition Pinoy Dream Academy Über-ture.

A new logo is also being used for this season, having an old-fashioned microphone and the word "Dream" using a different font than the rest of the title. Also, a new version of the theme song Awit ng Pangarap sang by first season winner Yeng Constantino is being used for this season.

Thirty-two potential scholars were introduced with their backgrounds documented their primer segment aired as part of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. They were also interviewed on the radio segment Pinoy Dream Academy Dream Minute on WRR 101.9. These thirty-two will go through a primary elimination selection from which the final roster of scholars is chosen. These eliminations will be aired as a series of episodes called The Dream BIGins from June 9 to 13, 2008 right after My Girl. June 14 will be yhe opening of the PDA School/House.

Added for that, auditions for "Little Dreamers," aged 6 to 10, had also been announced. It is unknown if the said junior competition will run during the second season or some later date.

  • PINOY IDOL:


Pinoy Idol is the second franchise of Idol series in the Philippines (the word Pinoy is the colloquial form of the word Filipino). GMA Network promoted Pinoy Idol as "the first Idol competition in the Philippines" and does not recognize Associated Broadcasting Company's Philippine Idol and its winner Mau Marcelo. It is hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, with Ogie Alcasid  (singer, songwriter, and record producer), Jolina Magdangal(singer and actress), and Wyngard Tracy (retired talent manager) as judges. Danny Tan is the show's musical director.

The winner will receive P1 million, a house and lot, brand new car, a recording contract with Sony BMG Music Philippines, and a television contract with GMA Network. The show premiered on April 5, 2008.

Pinoy Idol Extra, a daily Pinoy Idol feature program, was introduced on the May 18, 2008 episode of SOP Rules. It is hosted by Karylle and Rhian Ramos. The show began airing on May 25, 2008, to be shown weekday nights and Sunday afternoons.

The show will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage during live shows and interviews with contestants and judges. Its format is similar to that of I ♥ Philippine Idol: Exclusive.

    Pinoy Idol can and will never be better.

    You can only compare Pinoy Idol to the other Idol shows around the world, you can't even compare it to Pinoy Dream Academy (which just so happens to be the better show with a very credible dream team).

    But you can compare Pinoy Idol to Philippine Idol - and Philippine Idol was definitely 100% better.

    Hay, enough said.

    hands down ako sa pinoy dream academy. the best talaga yung apat na mentors wala akong masabi.

    pinoy idol sucks! i can't stand watching it. from the set to the judges, walang binatbat compared to pda's. umay na umay akong panoorin yung show.

    kahit sa singing bee pa itapat ang pinoy idol, mas pipiliin ko pa panoorin singing bee no.

    wyngard as simon cowell's counterpart. hello? buti pa si ryan cayabyab, napakaconsiderate and fair lagi pang constructive criticisms lang ang sinasabi. napakahunmble ng dating nya compared to wyngard.

    sayang lang sa pinoy idol si daryl jett celis, sana sa pda na lang sya nakuha. cute pa naman tas interesting din ang background.

    anyway, di pa man talaga nagiistart yung real action sa pda naeexcite na ako sa mga nangyayari. i really cant wait for the next episode to air.

    to pinoy idol. well. good luck na lang. very disappointing. mas may quality pa yung version ng abc5. yabang kasi ng gma7, yan tuloy napapala.

    pinoy dream academy, two thumbs up! not just the VERY CREDIBLE AND PRESTIGIOUS music judges, but also because of direk jose javier reyes, very realistic ang lahat ng sinasabi..

    pinoy idol is very very disappointing..

    Pinoy idol really sucks to the max! From the stage/set (super liit, nagsisiksikan silang lahat parang sardinas), music/sound (tunong lata), judges (feeling knowledgeable), host (super tuod), contestants (na mga walang K) - everything is a mess talaga. Itigil na itong show na ito. Irritating talaga so I stop watching it na, few episodes lang pinanood ko. PDA is a looot better than this PI. Mas may credibility and mas magagaling contestants.

    para sa mga nagsasabi na pinoy idol is better or pinoy idol is number 1 rethink ha.

    even the judges of pinoy idol themselves puro negative ang comments sa performances ng hopefuls nila. top 12 nila may nakapasok na pilit maghusky voice, may gaya-gaya kay bamboo kung mag headbang, may pumipiyok, may sigwa lang ng sigaw...guys top twelve na ito ha. kahit sabihin ng maka-GMA na hindi magaling un mga PDA scholars hindi naman sila worse or even at the same level mga PI contestants. un Robby lang ata magaling sa idol eh.

    Bottomline, PDA is better than PI, sa ngayon and if hindi mag-iimprove ang mga idol hopefuls and i reckon they have a very long list of do's and longer list for the don'ts to accomplish to atleast be at par with the scholars. Isip muna GMA loyal viewers bago sabihin "Pinoy Idol is the best!", OK?

    Nga pala, I stand on neutral grounds, mas maganda lang talaga quality ng PDA.

    pinoy idol,sana kumuha kayo ng mga judge na magaling para naman sumikat ang show ninyo medyo boring kasi eh"ang layo kasi ng agwat ninyo sa pda2 ng abs-cbn2,baka wala na naman mangyari sa winners ninyo bagsak ang career nila,sayang lang kasi ang mga past winners ninyo kay regine velasquez,walang sumikat ang layo nila kay yeng constantino ng pda1 noon.
    Sukat bang gawin ninyong judge si jolina at ogie,dapat mga voicer teachers talaga para mas maganda ang shows ninyo.

    Ang talent ng PDA ang no.1 kasi sila magaganda ang boses at may strikto pero epektibo silang mga lessons sa pagkanta. PDA is no.1!!!!

    Alam nyo mga guys hindi pwede compare ang pinoy idol sa pinoy dream academy medyo malayo ang format ng dalawang shows na iyan,ang pinoy idol ay parang simpleng amature contest lang samantalang ang pinoy dream adademy ay reality show with music teacher and well respected judges after them.While pinoy idol is music competetion no one are looking after them,they just sing indeed,no teachers no house and very smaall prizse for them to win to win at end.

    Naku kayo naman talaga oo,alam namin na mahina ang nakuhang contestant ng Pinoy Idol kasi napunta ang mga magagaling sa Pinoy Dream Academy2.Kaya ang resulta pinag pilian nalang ABS-CBN2 ang nag audition sa Pinoy Idol.Sabagay madaling makilala ang contestant sa PDA2 dahil magaling sa exposure,kaya talagang inamag yata ang mga singers namin at mga bagong mga singers.Ni isa wala pang sumisikat,ang tagal na nga ng Pinoy Pop Star ni Regine Velasquez walang nangyari sa winners.

    Hoy Lolit bakit ba binubulgar mo sa blog ang Pinoy Idol contest natin ha?Baka mahalata na tayo na pabagsak na talaga ang mga shows ng GMA7,pati show namin ni Pareng Vic na Eat Bulaga baka maapektuhan na tsismis mo,sabagay kinuha na yata lahat ng wowowee ang mga bagong commercials nati sa GMA7,lagi silang may bagong product endorser sa show nila.Kayat'medyo hiya na kami sa Eat Bulaga na banggitin na kami pa ang no.1 sa tanghali ngayon eh'.Baka lalo pa kaming dahil sa palpak na Pinoy Idol na yan Lolit,gawin nalang natin manood tayo ng Pinoy Dream Academy2 para compare natin kung talo nga tayo o hindi,baka tsismis lang balita na nilalangaw ang Pinoy Idol ng GMA7.

    Pinoy Dream Academy 2 is far better than Pinoy Idol...mataas kasi ang standard ng PDA2 ginawang pang-world class ng ABS-CBN ang programa at pinipili lang ang mga magagaling...Actually when heard i that GMA would franchise the Pinoy Idol, i was a bit excited thinking that it would be more exciting that at least a more better station would handle the program...BUT!to my DISAPPOINTMENT!and DISMAY!ang pangit ng contestants, hindi masyadong magaling magcomment si jolina, at ang stage super walang binatbat! WYNGARD, paano makakapili ang taumbayan ng ipanglalaban sa ibang bansa eh walang mapili na maganda at matino sa mga contestants ng Pinoy Idol!...when you get to watch Pinoy Dream Academy, although hindi sila ganun kagaling sa una makikita mo kaagad ang kaibahan nila pagkatapos ng isang linggo mas magaling sa lahat ng bagay at masasabing mas pwedeng ipanglaban sa ibang bansa kesa sa contestants ng Pinoy Idol walang improvement.

    Mga guys lalo yatang bumagsak ang ratings ng Pinoy Idol dahil sa naaalis yata ang medyo magaling nila,manood nalang tayo sa PDA2 ng ABS-CBN2 ang galing pala ng mga singers scholars nila mula ng maturuan sila ng mentors nila sa tamang breathing at dictions.Hindi siguro handa ang Pinoy Idol kaya medyo napag-iwanan sila ng Pinoy Dream Academy ng malaking agwat sa viewers,
    Malaking contest yan pero bakit si Jolina at Ogie ang mga ginawa nyong judges kasi,oo marunong kumanta ang dalawa pero naman kayo wala namang quality ang mga boses nila parang si Regine Velasquez lang sila,sumikat lang dahil umalis ng bansa si Josephine Banig na magaling ng hindi hamak kay Regine noon.Ang alam ko si Kyla lang ang singer ng GMA7 na may quality ang voice compare to Regine,Jaya,Ogie & Janno,kaya lang ayaw nyong sumikat dahil malakas sa management yata si Regine.Iniwan a rin kayo ni Lani Misalucha noon.Sana pasikatin ninyo ang mga singers ninyong nanalo sa POP Star contest ni Regine noon okey?

    Well it is true that Pda2 very much ahead than Pinoy idol.Kasi walang music teacher na pwedeng magturo sa kanila,na meron sa Abs-cbn2 at malawak ang cover ng Pinoy dream academy lalo na sa dami ng viewers nationwide at international na wala ang gma7.Hindi kasi kilala ang igma nila sa ibang bansa dahil konti lang subscriber nila compare to tfc ng abs-cbn2.
    Hindi yata type ng mga Pinoy ang gma7 sa ibang bansa dahil sa wala silang sikat na artist.nasa abs-cbn lahat ng magaling na artista,puro kasi mga starlet lang sa gma7.Pati ang eat bulaga bumagsak na rin dahil sa wowowee ni Willie Revillame na talagang malaka ang appeal sa ibang panig ng mundo,kaya hindi kilala ang eat bulaga sa ibang bansa na covered ng TFC of abs-cbn2

    hmmm.. everything's well said by the others who cast their comments regarding the thread of which show is better.. i guess i can't say it yet for now if which is better than the other because i haven't watched PI yet putting my observation in it,.. however, i can say that PDA2 is really good because of the mentors/teachers who are overseeing them in their activities, teaching them the right techniques.. so i think that's the factor that makes PDA2 a really really good show.. besides, not only singing techniques, the scholars are also taught other things which is also required for a performance to enhance a singer's stage presence.. and i believe that is what makes ABS-CBN's PDA to produce singers of good quality.. as i have observed in this thread almost everyone voted for PDA2.. well, nice choice folks..

    Mga kaibigan mas maganda ang Pinoy Idol di gaya ng Drma Academy. Mga sira ulo lang nanunuod niyan. Parang Big Brother lang yan na may kantahan e. Walang kwenta.
    Sa lahat nga nakita kosi Jayann ang pinaka maganda. Meron ba ang Drama Academy niyan?

    hayyy naku po juvell hello naka-drugs kaba? o isa ka ring sira ang ulo na tulad ni wyngard na akala mo kung sino nang marunong kumanta komo nakasali lang sa singing contest ng GMA. dont compare the PDA2 sa PI dahil ang layolayo nila sa isat isa.. tulad mo wala kang kwenta juvell like ur fav PI.hehehehehehe.. yabang naman kasi lagi ng GMA kala mo totong lagi silang number one eh hindi naman. vote for LAARNi mga kapamilya
