Sharon's 'Caregiver' premieres to star-studded crowd

A huge crowd showed up at the star-studded premiere night of actress Sharon Cuneta's "Caregiver" on Tuesday, May 27 at SM Megamall.

The film is Cuneta's comeback movie after a four-year break from doing films. The film is directed by critically acclaimed director Chito Roño. It is Cuneta's first movie with actor John Estrada.

"Thank you po sa lahat, sa sponsors ko, sa friends ko in the business. I want to thank Star Cinema dahil ako po ang napili nilang gumanap sa pelikulang ito for their 15th anniversary. Hindi po ako makatulog dalawang gabi. This is a movie that we give to you from the bottom of our hearts ," Cuneta told the viewers inside the movie theatre.

"Pareho kaming ninenerbyos (ni Sharon) siyempre super excited kami sa mga nangyayari. Sa mga publiko, sa lahat ng tao talagang maraming, maraming salamat," Roño added.

"Caregiver" tells the story of Sarah, a schoolteacher who opted to work as a caregiver in London for her family's future.

The movie tackles the hardships in the lives of OFWs, through the life of Sarah.

Cuneta had a message for caregivers and students of caregiving among the audience. "From the bottom of my heart I have only admiration and respect for you... ang dami kong natutunan at I hope inako ko na ang responsibiliy habang nagshooting kami sabi ko I have to do my best kasi I'm representing you. I hope that I've done justice to your pforesssion and God bless you -- salamat," Cuneta said.

Cuneta was accompanied by her husband Senator Francis Pangilinan, daughter KC Concepcion and mother Elaine Cuneta. Her leading man, John Estrada was with his girlfriend, beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles.

Other stars of the movie -- Jhong Hilario, child performers Makisig Morales and John Manalo, and actresses Rica Peralejo, Mickey Ferriols, Monique Wilson and veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa were also present.

Also seen at the premiere were "My Girl" stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, actress-talent manager Anabelle Rama, KC's rumored boyfriend Richard Gutierrez, actress-host Ruffa Gutierrez, actor Philip Salvador, actor-comedians Vhong Navarro and Chokoleit, television and movie directors Rowell Santiago and Wenn Deramas, showbiz couple Charlene Gonzalez and Aga Muhlach, actresses Ara Mina and Beth Tamayo and ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio.

Viewers of the movie's special screening said the movie really touched their hearts.

"The movie is good, ang galing, nakakaiyak talaga siya. May-aral siya talaga sa hirap ng mga nagta-trabaho sa abroad at sa sakripisyo ng isang ina," said one of the viewers.

"Caregiver" starts its regular screening Wednesday May 28, 2008 in over 150 theaters in the country.
