Alexa started implementing its new ranking system yesterday and websites have now been re-ranked as a result. It will surely have its share of criticisms still but, whether we like it or not, there is no doubt that Alexa remains a primary reference tool in ranking websites.
And so we are using it here to show a ranking of the top blogs in the Philippines. Eugene made a commendable effort compiling the list last month but we updated it to show the new Alexa ranks and included other Filipino blogs not mentioned in the list.
Blogs analyzed came from Top Philippine Websites, Ratified.org, TopBlogs.com.ph and a number of other sources. The list does not include blogs commercially owned and managed by corporations and those belonging to a network (for example, Blogs.Inquirer.net, GMAnews.tv/blognetwork, or i.ph).
We are aware that Alexa’s rank usually refers to the entire domain. Thus, one site containing a blog, forum, and photo gallery may not necessarily be comparable in terms of Alexa traffic with a site that is purely a blog. But since there is currently no way to separately determine the ranks of a site’s subdomains, we still used the top domain-level rank for this list.
We also know that this list is not exhaustive, so if there are blogs we failed to include, let us know by posting a comment below or by sending an email.
