Taxi drivers in Baguio City target P30 flagdown fares

Taxi drivers in Baguio City are seeking a P5 increase in their flagdown rate amid high oil prices, bringing their flagdown fares to P30.
The Federation of Jeepney Drivers and Operators of Baguio, Benguet and La Union (FEJODABLU) and Baguio Taxi Drivers said they will file their petition asking for the flag down rate adjustment before the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Aside from the P5 increase, the groups are also seeking an additional P2.50 for every 400 meters.
"Una naming pinag- usapan ang P35 sana na (flag) down sa metro pero nagkasundo kami sa P30 dahil imposibleng maaprubahan 'yon," said Danilo Pascua, Baguio Taxi Drivers' representative.
The groups warned of a transport strike if the LTFRB fails to act on their petition.
"Kumpiyansa kami na maaprubahan ito. Kung sakaling hindi ito maaaprubahan, siguradong magkakaroon ng tigil pasada," FEJODABLU Spokesman Johny Itliong said.
