Bacolod City rushes in setting up COVID-19 centers

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, March 26 (PIA6) –The Bacolod City government is rushing up in the establishment of three Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) centers to attend to patients showing signs of the virus, City Administrator Em Ang announced.

In a press conference, Ang said private school Southern Hills Academy owner Monit Lacson agreed to convert said school into a Quarantine Center. It has 17 rooms with bathroom and is expected to be completed in three days.

The Bacolod City Water District is currently working to provide the school with water as the City Engineer’s Office improves the place to suit the purpose and is located along Brgy. Alijis highway.

The city is still working on putting-up seven other sites pending approval by the Department of Education, she noted.

The center for Patients Under Investigation (PUI) will be at the building near the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital at Brgy. Eroreco.

She said the place will be advantageous to the PUI since it is situated next to a hospital.

The Respiratory Center will be situated at the Bays Center that will be open to conduct consultation to people with cough and asthma complaints.

Ang said the three centers being established are meant to decongest the hospitals or prevent them from being overwhelmed with patients.

She said donations have started to trickle in for the installation of needed equipment for the centers.

Any help the public would like to extend can be coursed through the Operation Center at the New Government Center, Ang added.  (JSC/LLJR-PIA6)
