DOLE urges firms to avail of aid for workers affected by COVID-19

DOLE 12 OIC ARD Arlene Bisnon announced DOLE offers  financial assistance for workers in the formal sector, such as sales clerks, production staff, service crew and others who are affected by the COVID pandemic.  She said application for the DOLE COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program should be done by the management.

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Mar. 26 (PIA) – SOCCSKSARGEN Region’s Department of Labor and Employment  (DOLE  12)  encourages private establishments to apply for assistance for their workers who are affected by the coronavirus disease.

Arlene Bisnon, OIC assistant regional director of DOLE 12, announced during the COVID-19 press briefing at the provincial capitol here on Tuesday that the Labor Department recently launched COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP), specifically for workers in the formal sector.

“CAMP is being offered to employees of private establishments that have opted to implement flexible work arrangements such as reduction of workhours or workdays, rotation of workers and  forced leave or have  temporarily closed as mitigating measures due to COVID-19,” Bisnon said.

“Under the program, each worker can receive P5,000 assistance from the national government,” she added.

Bisnon emphasized, however, that the management – not the individual employee – should apply for CAMP.

To avail of DOLE’s CAMP,  an establishment should submit an application  form, which is downloadable from DOLE Website and DOLE Facebook pages, list of affected workers, and latest payroll.

Submission of required documents may be done via email to the DOLE Field Office in their area: dole12.southcot@gmail.com for South Cotabato, dole12.sargen@gmail.com for General Santos City, dole12.northcot@gmail.com for Cotabato Province, dole12.skfo@gmail.com for Sultan Kudarat Province, dole12.sarfo@gmail.com, and dolexii.ccfo@gmail.com for Cotabato City.

According to the program guideline, application shall be evaluated by the DOLE Regional Office in three working days from receipt of documents. Depending on the status of application, DOLE 12 shall issue either a Notice of Approval or a Notice of Denial within three working days.

Disbursement of financial support shall be coursed through the beneficiary’s payroll account through bank transfer within 2 weeks upon receipt.

As of Tuesday morning, 31 establishments across SOCCSKSARGEN Region have already applied for DOLE’s CAMP. These applications cover 937 employees.  (DED-PIA XII)
