
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 29 (PIA) - - - The Provincial Government of Batanes has assured Ivatans that the province has enough rice for the month-long enhanced community quarantine that was implemented due to the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID – 19).
Acting Governor Ignacio Villa said his constituents should not panic as he undestands every Ivatan's plight especially their basic needs.
Villa said there is enough supply of rice in the market as the provincial government is continuously coordinating with local rice suppliers.
As of writing, 2,000 sacks of National Food Authority (NFA) rice is on the way, as per information from NFA - Batanes.
Jehan Gecha, NFA Batanes oic said additional 2,000 sacks of rice have been requested for release and shipment on top of the 2,000 sacks now in transit, pending accomplishment of necessary documents. (MDCT with reports from PLGU Batanes/PIA-2)
