Cauayan City implements liquor ban as precautionary measure vs COVID-19

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, March 20 (PIA) – The City Government of Cauayan has temporarily imposed a liquor ban as part of the precautionary measures against Corona Virus Disease (COVID) – 19.

Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Faustino has signed Executive Order No. 23, Series of 2020 banning the sale and consumption of liquor while the entire Luzon is under Enhanced Community Quarantine and the country is under a State of Calamity due to the spread of COVID – 19 to Filipinos.

In Dy's order, he said R.A 7160 otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, empowers the local chief executive to promote good governance within its limits.

“In the midst of the growing concern over the fast spreading COVID -19, the City Government of Cauayan has decided to come up with precautionary measures to ensure the safety of every individual,” Dy said.

He said there is a need to control the sale and consumption of intoxicating substances in the City of Cauayan, Isabela, to ensure and promote health and safety, maintain peace and order, and preserve the comfort and convenience of every individual.

He said any person who will sell and/or distribute intoxicating beverages shall result to the revocation of employment or business permit. (MDCT/BME/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
