CEBU, March 19 (PIA) -- Using the online platform is seen as the best strategy to continue to deliver timely, relevant, and critical information at this time when movements are restricted and social distancing protocols should be adopted to avoid rapid transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, the Philippine Information Agency Region 7 (PIA-7) will launch the maiden episode of “Straight From the Source” Special Interviews on COVID-19 featuring government agencies as they report on the actions, proactive measures, and initiatives taken by their respective offices to address COVID-19 related concerns.
The “Straight From the Source” Special Interviews on COVID-19 will be livestreamed twice a week on the PIA-7 Facebook Page every Monday and Thursday, at 1:30 p.m.
This online engagement encourages the public to ask questions to invited resource persons from the Department of Labor and Employment 7 and the Department of Trade and Industry 7.
Amid the State of Public Health Emergency nationwide to enforcement of community quarantine by local government units as cases continue to rise daily have sprouted concerns over possible lay-offs and hoarding of basic goods.
These concerns and other related issues will be addressed by the invited regional line agencies.
The program also aims to address "fake news" or disinformation on social media as information comes straight from the source or the concerned agency.
Agencies to be invited in the succeeding episodes include Cebu Ports Authority, Land Transportation Office, Department of Health, Police Regional Office, Civil Service Commission, Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Food Authority, and the Bureau of Food and Aquatic Resources.
PIA, as the information support arm of the government, has resorted to strengthening the use of social media to continue to perform its mandate to communicate public information for people to be aware of what the government is doing at this time of crisis. (fcr/PIA7)
