PNP Tumauini raises funds for 'Project Free RIDE' to benefit frontliners, residents

TUMAUINI, Isabela, March 28 (PIA) - - - Personnel of the Tumauini Police Station in this province raised funds among themselves to finance the station's newly launched 'Project Free RIDE' to benefit frontliners who will go to their workplaces and residents who will buy basic goods and medicines.

The 'Project Free RIDE' or 'Project Free R-emain I-nside your home D-isease COVID 19 E-liminate' aims in transporting medical and other employees whose services are needed while the Enhanced Community Quarantine is implemented entire Luzon.

Since mass transportation is temporarily suspended, Police Master Sergeant Don Tumolva, station's junior police community relation officer said it was deployed to address the need of transportation services for frontliners and employees including residents who will go out to buy food especially those who don't own their vehicles.

"In response to the call of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to wit: "TOGETHER WE CAN BE COVID 19 FREE", personnel of PNP Tumauini passed the hat among themselves to come up with fund to implement this Free RIDE project," Tumolva said.

Under the leadership of its new OIC chief, Police Major Rolando Gatan, the PNP Tumauini tapped other stakeholders to help the station realize the project.

"We thank particularly Mrs. Olive Baquran Gannaban, who allowed the PNP Tumauini to use her forward truck, PSSG Ryan Pacunana Binalay who is assigned at the Crime Laboratory in Quirino Province who pledged to donate P5,000 for gas allowance, Mrs. Flordeliza Novenario Cabangan, Mr. Gerardo Curugan Novenario, Mrs. Gigibeth Laman Guiuo, Ms. Leilanie Cue Catubag, and Ms. Norma Bulauan, who all pledged to assist us in the sustainability of this project.," Tumolva added.

For his part, Major Gatan said, "Kung ang kapulisan at mamamayan ay magtutulungan, walang laban ang COVID na yan."

While the transport service provides convenience for the people, Gatan assured the public that physical distancing is strictly observed during loading and unloading of passengers and inside the truck.

Passengers are also reminded to observe physical distancing while waiting for the truck to arrive in the different stations where they will be picked up.
