San Carlos City steps up COVID-19 fight

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, March 26 (PIA6) –- The local government of San Carlos has scaled up its efforts to fight Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) by preparing isolation facility and helping alleviate impact of livelihood loss of residents.

Aside from strict border controls, the local government is now implementing the 24-hour curfew for minors and elderly residents aging 65 years old and above,  per Executive Order No. 121 series of 2020 issued by City Mayor Reneto Gustilo.

Gustilo also issued EO No. 116 regulating the market operation hours and temporarily waving collection of rental fees to the city.

San Carlos City also identified and inaugurated its COVID-19 12-bedroom isolation facility for Patients Under Investigation for COVID-19.

The isolation facility is formerly a six-classroom building of the Julio Ledesma National High School converted into an isolation facility. 

The facility has five rooms intended for the PUIs and four quarantine rooms for the staff.

There are currently three doctors and six nurses assigned on duty at the isolation facility.

The local government acknowledged and lauded all medical practitioners, health workers, Barangay officials along with their workers and other frontliners in the government and private sectors in accelerating the fight against global coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through the Department of Labor and Employment is now reviewing 12 establishments who have filed for the one-time cash assistance worth P5,000 to all private employees affected of the COVID-19 pandemic with its COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP). 

Public Employment Services Office (PESO) In-Charge of Operations Erel Lim urged establishment owners or managers to file for financial assistance for their employees at the PESO with the following requirements Copy of Notice or memorandum of the shortening of working hours or temporarily closure of the stores/office; Complete filled-up form of DOLE application available at the PESO office; and Payroll of employees three months prior to closing or shortening of working hours.*(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
