GAMU, Isabela, March 22 (PIA) - - - The 5th Infantry (Star) Division, Philippine Army based in this town is doing its best to fight against the entry of the COVID-19 in the regions of Cordillera and Cagayan Valley.
Major General Pablo M. Lorenzo, AFP, commander of 5ID, directed the camp's hospital staff to conduct information awareness drive to all troops and their families regarding COVID-19 and the measures to undertake as prevention against the disease.
The 5ID Medical Team is prepared to be deployed for medical assistance to the public if necessary and the camp's military vehicles are on alert status to provide transportation services to front liners and for those who are in need.
The camp's 5th Civil Military Operation (CMO) Battalion, together with the Maneuver Units are also conducting information operations regarding the COVID-19 awareness through the “HERO Vehicle Patrol” or “Operations Wang-Wang” along National Highway and other road nets in the area of responsibility to support government efforts to educate the public.
“We shall assist the PNP forces in implementing the community quarantine, and let us ensure that our personnel, vehicles, and medical teams are ready in case our stakeholders need them,” Lorenzo said.
The commander also reminded the public to support the government’s efforts against COVID-19 by staying at their homes and be healthy. He encouraged everyone to pray for the safety of the country and for the pandemic to end soon.
On the other hand, Lorenzo has directed the Brigades and Battalions to deploy the troops as support to PNP forces in the conduct of border checkpoints along the national highway and other provincial and municipal roads as measure to contain the possible spread of COVID-19.
