CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Mar. 24 (PIA) – City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery has announced during the daily press conference held at the City Hall that a total of 920 Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) are listed by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) citywide.
It was also announced that out of the 920 PUMs only 636 are currently under self-quarantine while 284 have already been cleared.
Dr. Nery also disclosed that barangays Bugo, Macasandig and Carmen are the top three barangays with the most number of PUMs.
"The increase in the number of PUMs is due to the residents coming home from Manila. But they show no signs of symptoms of COVID-19, and they are not COVID-19 positives,” she explained.
“BHERT should strictly and actively monitor the PUMs so that anytime a symptom will occur we can immediately give them the proper medication. However, this does not mean that the person is already COVID-19 positive since there are many causes in the development of such symptoms," she added.
Surveillance activities for the entire city are still ongoing together with the infection prevention and control activities, which include identification of barangay isolation units and disinfection of public places.
There are already nine barangay isolation units identified and passed the inspection made by the City Health Office. Misting equipment were additionally acquired by the city to speed up the disinfection activities.
As of the moment, the City Health Office will prioritize the barangays with the most number of PUMs reported in their sanitation and disinfection activities. (JAKArana/PIA R10)
