KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province, Mar. 26, 2020 (PIA)--- The provincial government here is augmenting the initial preventive measures and preparations against the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVD-19) following the declaration of pre-emptive lockdown in the province and general community quarantine in the entire Region XII.
Aside from mandating the local government units to encourage the public to practice the department of Health (DOH)-approved guidelines on personal preventive measures, the provincial government ensures that checkpoints are activated through the aid of health personnel and even barangay officials.
It can be noted that checkpoints in all boundaries of the province were first intensified to limit and monitor movement of the public.
Governor Nancy Catamco also emphasized that an isolation facility was already opened inside the Provincial Capitol Compound in Amas, Kidapawan City to serve as Central COVID-19 Isolation Center of the province. The facility has a 10-bed capacity and will cater a moderate to severe patients under investigation.
At present, one person under monitoring with a moderate case is isolated in the facility.
Also, the provincial government has recently acquired three transport vehicles for COVID-19 patients. This is to ensure that individuals showing signs and symptoms of the disease could easily be transported to health facilities.
The governor assured that the provincial government is leading a 24-hour monitoring to safeguard the health of Cotabateños. Catamco appealed to her constituents to follow the guidelines set by the DOH and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to prevent the spread of the disease in the province.
