Ozamiz BHWs receive rice, cash assistance

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, March 23 (PIA) - In recognition of the efforts of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) in helping fight coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the city government here has given them monetary and rice assistance. 

They each received 10-kilo rice, P3,000 cash for their January to March cash allowance and P1,500 hazard pay. 

Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal acknowledged the contribution of all sectors especially those at the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, saying “Every day, our health workers and other heroes from the public and private sectors make great sacrifices as they work in the frontlines to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities."

He, however, urged the public to stay at home and follow the authorities to help contain the disease. 

Oaminal added that those implementing quarantine measures against COVID-19, including health workers, soldiers, police officers would also receive adequate compensation for their services.

The amyor vowed to provide  daily supply of food and water and other non-food provisions to the frontliners during the duration of their service. (SMRN/PIA MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL)
