LGU E. Samar issues 6 ordinances to stop COVID-19 entry

BORONGAN CITY, March 21 (PIA) – The local government unit of Eastern Samar issued at least six ordinances in response to the the COVID-19 threat.

In a press conference held on March 20, Nelson Cortez, provincial administrator faced the media with the Dr. Rodel Delgado, the provincial health office (PHO) technical chief.

Governor Ben Evardone is reportedly on home quarantine but he issued a video enjoining the cooperation of his people to address the virus.

Cortez said that one of the six ordinances outlined the implementation of border checkpoints in all the entry points in the province from Lawaan town in the southern part, and in Taft and Arteche towns in the northern part.

Another ordinance suspended classed from March 16 to 31.

Health precautions and provision of intensive health care services were also provided in another ordinance.

At the provincial jail, inmates and their families will have to sacrifice as there is another ordinance that prohibits regular and conjugal visits.

Still another ordinance suspended work for a half-day on Friday, March 20, for government employees to prepare for the general community quarantine.

Finally, there is the provision of a general community quarantine from March 22 (Sunday) to April 12 (Easter Sunday).  

Meanwhile, Dr. Rodel Delgado reported the present situation with regards to PUMs.

Delgado reported that as of March 20, the Eastern Samar health office has 2, 402 persons under monitoring (PUM) and 24 persons under investigation (PUI).

Eastern Samar has no COVID-19 case yet. (nbq/ PIA 8-E. Samar)
